Swift GTi Strut Brace

Swift GTi Strut Brace
Strutbrace with 4th engine mount to help out the old sloppy Swift ones.

These have been a long time in the making. The angles were really hard to get right.

I have made the brace to the engine really strong. Bolts to the Gear Box top rear bolt, the inlet manifold stud & the top hole of the distributor.

ATM these have only been tested on my Swift that has been modified, So all going to plan I will get hold of a standard GTi on Wednesday (test them) so that they can go out the door
I have done a small run of these and if they sell well I will make some more.
The one pictured above is painted (teenage mutant ninja turtle green) & will be available for sale.
I will be buying paint soon to do the other 4 so if your interested please let me know the colour of your choice.
As a lot of money and stupid amount of hours went into making these, laser cut flanges and the complete process was done at my friends machine shop, the cost per item is £150 + postage.
If your interested let me know.

Re: Swift GTi Strut Brace
They don't feel too bad. We had to make them really strong as there used for a 4th engine mount, so there is a bit of weight in them.
I made them for my car and I am very fussy when it come to weight, so I am also interested to find out
.
I will get the total weight when I work out the shipping costs and let you all know.
Did not get the chance to try them on Adam's car today, stuck at work all day and its pissing down outside...
.
Will get some more pic's soon + road test them.

looks good but what are the advantages of this strut brace as opposed to OMP ones?

Re: Swift GTi Strut Brace
the advantage is that it has a 4th engine mount/ stabilizer the swifts engine mounts from standard are not very good. this is a cheaper and easier alternative to buying ang changing all your engine mounts and its also not as harsh as race rally mounts. which alot of people will prefer and it will increase the life span of your stock engine mounts

Re: Swift GTi Strut Brace
OK got the chance to test these over the weekend on a few standard GTi's, thanks Jimbo! and also on Adam's car today cheers mate!.
The brace is doing its job very well and stopped the axle tramp on Adam's car.
I have put 2 for sale on ebay and I am taking colour requests atm so if there is interest and you want some special colour.... let me know before I paint these lot.

They fit extremely well (like a glove) so it was worth the wait, time and effort to get right!
Cheers

Re: Swift GTi Strut Brace
Depends on how they sell, if this first lot sell's ok then I will invest and buy more materials.
They seem to have plenty of interest on ebay so should be good and hopefully worth the effort!.
If you guy's want any feedback to see what there like, ask Adam as he is still road testing one
