what was engine oil spec?
Hi,
I got service manual but they are Japanese and it tells me I have to use Suzuki Star oil....
.
Now, I haven't had a running Gti since 2008. If we use too thin oil, hydro tappets get pumped up too much.
So, what I need to know is what oil do I need to use was it?
I think I have 15/40 cheap oil so that I can run in my engine.
Can any of you look into your service manual/Haynes books to find out what grade I should use?
Cheers
Atchi

The owners manual in the glovebox of mine is really specific. Use 10/30 oil only for GTi.

Thanks chaps,
I think I will use 15/40 for a bit and see how it react to it and start to buy good quality oil then.
Just my engine has been not in use for 10 years so I need to start to fill in oil and hand turn it without spark plugs!

According to my system at work mine can have 5w-40 edge or 10w-40 magnatec (both castrol) that's for STD cars tho.
