child restraint help
Ok guys, need some help.
I need to find how child restraint tethers are attached to the car. the compliance police here in OZ want child seat anchors and I cannot find how its done. my 1992 OZ delivered 5 door had them in the rear panel but my just hasnt got any captive nuts for similar fixing.
any ideas,
cheers

Re: child restraint help
I think best way to find out is to see 5 Dr Justy.
My mk1 Gti had captive nuts hidden in the boot and all I needed to do was to get hold of 3 point seat belt and cut plastic trim to suit.
Cheers

Yes thets what i did on a 5 door in 1992 but the Justy doesnt have the captive nuts. the back beaver panel is there with corresponding holes and the garnish has the trim marks ready to be cut out but no captive nuts. was wondering if there was something missing or if the justy was different.
PS the car and I are in Australia now!

Hi,
Can you not just get hold of nut and retaining washers to fit it?
I think that will be easiest way. I got mine from Dattman in NZ for my mk1 mod!

Re: child restraint help
that is the plan, however before I cut open the box section to insert said captive nut, then weld a perfectly good unwelded car, I wanted to know if this was the rigtht place or the way the car was designed. I assume the european version i slightly diffrent to OZ and japan and am trying to determione what was the Euro way to determine if it will pass compliance here in OZ.
