An old timer returns
Well it's all in the title really, I was the proud owner of a 96 SSGTI in the late nineties its was my pride and joy janspeed magnex k&n lowered with 16s (which were mega rare in those days only one tyre supplier.....................In the world lol) I was a regular on SSGTi.com, but times change needed to tow a caravan so I had to sell it, sad times.
Anyway that was 12 years ago and low an behold my brother in law turned up on my door with a 92 phase 2 gti in very poor condition my head was saying its a money pit don't bother but my heart had already stripped it down ready for a massive resto project lol.
So I should imagine I will be about for a bit again I am a little bit rusty with contact ect so I'm hoping there are people on here to help me out.
For now

Hey Jones im from sunny scunny got plenty of photos of the new one I've only got 1 left of my baby taking piccies was not a popular for me as it is now, once I work out how to get the pics from my I pad to the inter web I'll up load some.
Mini swift I'd have been just about finished with ssgti by then myself and a lad called mick Lewis used to knock about he had a j plate with a veilside front end.
Triple r from uk the only ssgtis that stick in my mind was its mad cultis 4x4 the red one off ssgti site main page blue turbod one on 17s and probably some more if I sat and thought about it, I will start a thread soon enough showing the poor condition of the gti and the impending build.

Hi Daviie, 16 indeed. I'm 48 and still have a couple of them. Gti and 4wd. My gti fits 7,5x16 et38. Nowadays the most problem is in finding rims. 6,5x16 et40 would be the best choice being lighter and saving tyre from rasping the fender. I post some shots for you if I find the way to. Welcome

Re: An old timer returns
Glad to see I'm not the only old timer knocking around
I remember when I first came across ssgti.com (or was it .net?) and was blown away by some of the great cars on there. The blue one on 17" Anterra was my fav.
There was a black one I used to see arond my way, southeast London back in the late 90s that was on 16" Azev's but like you say, 16s were mega rage on a gti back then.
Ligurt, love your car mate. Nice pics too.
