Hi, new to the forum and hopefully someone can steer me in the right direction.
I am fiting twin side draft carbs in place of the the injection system and need to know how to bung the injector holes ? Where to get suitable bungs and how to secure them.

Thanks

hi welcome try introducing yourself on the forum and posting some pics up in the newbie section. personally i would take the head off and weld them up or an easier option would be a large rubber gromit of some sort.

dont weld them you will warp the head and if you want to change to inj then you cant
fuel resistant silicone would be best, just make sure to surface is spotless before you apply

I tapped the holes on mine and screwed in allen head bolts with some PTFE tape on them.

Works fine.

I just bolted the fuel rail and injectors. I don't mind them being there and it's easier to get back to EFI when in trouble.
What kind of carbs are you looking for?
You can save alot of time and money and use my jetting . From what i've tried it's the optimum configuration for maximum power.

Thanks for the info. I have a manifold for twin DCOE sidedrafts to which I will bolt up a pair of Mikuni 40's which currently sit on my standard Samurai 8V engine. I also have a pair of Dellorto's although need rebuilding. When I put the manifold up against the head it catches on the injectors. However now thinking if I take the rail and injectors out, bolt up the manifold and see if the injectors can drop back in without catchng.
How did you set yours up and what Carb/Jetting are you running?
Thanks

OK.
I've coverd this on another forum but i'll do itagain here if it's any help to others.

I got my manifold from a friend who builds them . the standar manifold for the gti hits the injectors.
You need to get your carb intake to match the standard gti one, it's not hard to do this, i used a hand tool , a electric drill would be fine .
After you do this and the manifold bolts right in , you should consider you vaccum line, for the brake system and mechanical advance on the ignition.
Mine still is bolted on to the first cylinder and it's hard to bolt down the fuel rail because the number one injector hits the vaccum hose.
I would drill from the side of the intake and get my vaccum from there.

From what i could see during my research the benefit from bike carbs versus standard dellorto carbs is not that much and for me it was not worth the hassle.
The power gain is minimal .

My jetting is:
Dellort DHLA 40 C
Mains 120
Air 170
Idle 45
Pumps 35
Venturi 30

I should get a Facet red top fuel pump for them with a pressure regulator set at 3.5 psi.

My car pulls hard until 8000 rpm on standard cams .
Good luck with your project.

Thanks Radu, that is great info and confirm my manifold is purpose made to match the port openings and accomodates servo vacum by a screw in connector piece. I can now go ahead and build my dellortos with the correct jets and will try grinding (carefully) the manifold to clear the injectors.
Tks

no problems.
If you need anything, just ask. I know a couple of guys who know a thing or 2 about dellorto carbs.
Clean them very carefully, adjust your pumps so that they get jet of about 1,5m distance and 4 seconds duration.
I'll post a video soon on youtube with my carbs

Hi,

Go with Dara's advice, he has rally cars with carbs on.
I have been told that Dellort are better carbs due to no improvement has carried out to weber since 80s.
I go with bike carbs since I'm tight/skint!

Cheers
