alright

alright
im new to the swift not even picked it up, but im after some jdm style alloys, NO HALFORDS SPECIALS ETC...
the swift is a 1997 1.3 gls 3 door bought as a runabout while my st205 gt4 has some serious engine modifications,
im interested to know what other cars are the same fitment and wheather the gls is the same fitment as the gti... hope to stick around hopefully i wont spend too much on this as im meant to be using to save the money to have the gt4 engine forged, bigger turbo, stand alone etc etc....as i want to make the 400bhp mark.
but considering i fully enjoyed my saxo vts which had been tuned and 150bhp i t probably wont take long untill i start looking what fits in a swift.
cheers anyway
jim

Re: alright
cheers for the welcomes i seem to of confused some of you lol,
im after to get the gt4 to 400bhp its currently running 300bhp would of been around the 330bhp mark but i had to sell my hks fcon piggyback and gcc because of work and ive not fitted my fmic, but for that the fully forged engines that have already been done pop up for £1000-£2000 then theres your turbo which again £1000 or so id like to get my own engine forged so that in know everythings been done but we will see, a few guys on gt4oc are aiming for the 380bhp mark on stock internals to see how far they can go which will be interesting, but all in all i estimate about 5k or so to get it close. which is the reason for it coming off the road and getting a cheap run about.
also when i meant my vts i meant i enjoyed how fast it was and that it wont take long untill i start looking at whats involved in an engine conversion and whats worth doing to it, main bit for now though is im after some alloys which i signed up here for, by no means am i a gti wannabe i just wanted to find somewhere to get a nice set of wheels ive got the gt4 when its finnished for fun at trackdays.

Re: alright
dont get me started on french cars lol
my m8 has a 306 gti-6 and it doesnt even do a full lock to the right cause the wheel hits the 6speed gearbox,
Id never have a french car unless it was a clio v6 just for the noise and rwd fun lol

Re: alright
aye gotta be honest i am fond of the french stuff, my only reason for going jap was because i was fed up of everyone digging into the vts untill i taught them a lesson not to laugh at little cars,
well that and it was going to cost over 5k to get to the next stage with a turbo in the end i just went out and spent that money on something that was still underated but that would not be the target of chav jokes,
because everyone was always on my back about me owning a french car and spending that type of money seemed pointless if everyone else was going to just come out with comments like you could of bought a scooby/evo for that for that reason alone i didnt buy either i bought the dark horse in the same league that never gets a mention the gt4, heres some piccys of the saxo and it was a great car and i would deffo have another at some point as a second car. found a few piccys of my mg zs 180 aswell to throw in another car that was a pleasure to drive that gets slated.

heres a pic of my 1st car aswell astra mk3 si haha bare in mind i was only 17 and fast and the furious had just come out so i got over excited. will give a few people a laugh though lol

Re: alright
sure was although if you think back to the early fandf days it looked kind of cool when it was acceptable, there was no tacky neons or led washer jets, i just got grief for the tea tray although on many occassions it was usefull for eating a kfc off lol. after that i had about 10 other mk3 astras, they always say when you leave vauxhall you always come back, well i think im an acception once i broke the mould after a 1.4 corsa b sport, i bought my mg and found that i never really want a vauxhall again, i did end up with another for about 2 weeks last year just as a money making exercise and again it bored me to tears, great work horses but they have no excitement tbh.STEVEGTI2 wrote:DISASTRA![]()

the swifts alot of fun as a gls and i can see me going onto a gti before long if i dont go the baleno route and i free up abit more cash, also dependant on what insurance is like the idea this time was to buy the swift to save money for the celica build for next year to make the gt4 a serious piece of kit at santa pod and trackdays, what i havent spent in insurance, maintainance and fuel gos towards that but i find it alot of fun, i do keep my eye on pistonheads at the gtis, hopefully i can fight the urge but im meant to be keeping this for a year and i cant see that happening myself. lol
