WANTED - GTi Starter Motor
WANTED - GTi Starter Motor
Hey guys, the starter motor on my mk2 ph1 GTi has given up the ghost, and I've drawn a blank with the local scrapyards.
Has anyone got a working starter motor that at a decent price please?
Many thanks, Neil.

Re: WANTED - GTi Starter Motor
Yeah, i mailed him on ebay a few weeks back and he wanted £50, which i thought was a bit much considering only the week before i got an alternator for £25 inc P&P, and that's a similar size and weight to the starter.
Can anybody help? Surely someone out there in Swiftland must have a working starter kicking about in their garage that i can take off their hands for a reasonable price?

Re: WANTED - GTi Starter Motor
Yeah, looks like I'm going to have to steve. I've fetched the old one off the car, tried the old "gentle tap with a hammer" trick, and that hasn't worked. Thought about opening it up and checking the brushes etc, but to be honest I'm shite with electrics, I'd much rather do a mechanical job like replace the headgasket.

Cheers Ian, I managed to track down another one on E-bay, not from a GTi but from a 1.3 swift (so will fit), only set me back 99p lol, just need to pick it up this coming weekend.
